Ayodele Olorunfemi has been confirmed as the authentic Labour Party (LP) candidate for the Ondo State governorship election, scheduled to take place on November 16, 2024.
This development follows a controversy surrounding Chief Olusola Ebiseni's claim to be the party's candidate, which was swiftly dismissed by the Labour Party leadership.
According to the Labour Party's National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, Dr. Olorunfemi emerged as the party's flag bearer after the primaries held in Akure in June.
The party has since submitted his name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and it was published as the Labour Party's duly nominated candidate for the Ondo election.
It's worth noting that Ebiseni, who contested for the governorship of the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the state but lost, has not formally identified with the Labour Party.
The Labour Party has urged security agencies to apprehend anyone impersonating or being used to fight a proxy battle by way of impersonation.
With this clarification, the Labour Party is now focused on winning the Ondo governorship election with Dr. Olorunfemi, who is described as a grassroots politician, a prominent Labour leader, and a renowned educationist.
