DANJUMA IBRAHIM Reporting Live from Abuja

The Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in the Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Rufus Eseoghene Ebegba, has lauded the security reforms of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Administration and urged Nigerians to sustain strong support for the Federal Government’s security architecture as a pathway to lasting peace, economic growth, and national stability.

Dr. Ebegba made this call during a special New Year leadership meeting of the PCRC held in Abuja, where leaders and key stakeholders of the committee reviewed ongoing security collaboration and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s people-centered security and governance agenda.

He emphasized that the Tinubu Administration has demonstrated clear political will in strengthening Nigeria’s security institutions, describing security as the cornerstone of sustainable development and economic revival.
“Security is the bedrock of economic growth, social stability, and national prosperity.

The deliberate efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reposition and strengthen our security architecture are already laying the foundation for a safer and more investor-friendly Nigeria,” Dr. Ebegba said.

He commended President Tinubu for prioritizing national security as part of his Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that improved security conditions would enhance investor confidence, protect lives and property, and accelerate economic recovery across the country.

The FCT PCRC chairman urged residents of the Federal Capital Territory to continue to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible intelligence and supporting community-based security initiatives that align with the Federal Government’s broader security strategy.

Dr. Ebegba also called on eligible voters in the FCT to come out en masse to participate peacefully in the forthcoming February 21 FCT Area Council elections, describing the exercise as a vital democratic process and a strategic build-up toward the 2027 general elections.

According to him, massive civic participation would further strengthen Nigeria’s democracy and reinforce public confidence in the electoral process.

“Your vote is your voice. Civic participation remains a critical pillar of democracy, and these elections will further demonstrate Nigeria’s democratic maturity and the readiness of INEC ahead of the 2027 general elections,” he stated.

On the economy, Dr. Ebegba expressed strong support for President Tinubu’s ongoing tax reforms and economic recovery policies, describing them as bold and necessary steps toward rebuilding Nigeria’s fiscal strength, improving infrastructure, and creating long-term prosperity.

He acknowledged that reforms often come with short-term challenges but stressed that the Tinubu Administration’s policies are designed to deliver sustainable growth, national resilience, and shared prosperity for all Nigerians.

The PCRC chairman also charged sub-leaders and members of the committee across the FCT to deepen collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force in line with the Federal Government’s commitment to community policing, professionalism, respect for human rights, and the rule of law.

He said the strengthened partnership between the police and communities would help reduce crime, enhance trust, and support the Tinubu Administration’s broader goal of building a safer and more secure Nigeria.

Dr. Ebegba further commended the media for their continued engagement and urged journalists to promote responsible, patriotic, and development-oriented reporting that supports peace, national unity, and democratic stability, especially as the country moves closer to another election cycle.

He noted that the media remain critical partners in supporting national cohesion and public confidence in government policies and reforms.

The meeting was also attended by High Chief Alhaji Mogaji Ibrahim Olaniyan, the National Chairman of the PCRC, and the FCT Police Commissioner, CP Miller Adantawaye who prai d the world of the FCT PCRC chairman Dr Rufus Eseoghene Ebegba.

The meeting concluded with a renewed call for unity, patriotism, and collective responsibility in supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and in building a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Federal Capital Territory and Nigeria at large.
