PETER OBI & SUPPORTERS SEEK CHEAP PUBLICITY AHEAD ADC PRIMARY ELECTIONS AS CHIBUIKE ROTIMI AMAECHI CAMP DEBUNKS ALLEGED PRAISE, LINKS FAKE STORY TO ADC PRIMARY POLITICS

Abuja— NIGERIA

The national pressure group called AMAECHIfied is the political camp of former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and it has totally dismissed as false, fabricated, and the politically motivated, a viral report claiming that Amaechi praised Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

In a statement released in Abuja, Amaechi’s AMAECHIfied media team said the report was entirely fictitious and appeared to be part of a broader attempt to manufacture political relevance and cheap publicity for Peter Obi and his supporters ahead of the forthcoming ADC coalition primaries.

“The story did not happen at any time. Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi never made such statements and never praised Peter Obi in any forum,” the statement said.

The disputed report, which circulated widely on social media, alleged that Amaechi commended Obi’s leadership style and likened him to global icons such as Abraham Lincoln and Mahatma Gandhi, as well as the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

Amaechi’s AMAECHIfied camp described the claims as a deliberate falsehood designed to mislead the public.

According to the statement, Amaechi has not stepped down and will not step down for any aspirant, stressing that he remains firmly committed to pursuing his own presidential ambition within the ADC coalition.

Political observers note that the rebuttal comes amid intensifying jockeying for relevance and endorsements ahead of the ADC primaries, with aspirants and their supporters seeking to project elite backing to strengthen their negotiating positions.

Amaechi’s AMAECHIfied camp suggested that the false report was part of this trend.

“It is clear that some political actors, lacking organic elite support and institutional strength, are resorting to manufactured endorsements and media propaganda to remain politically visible,” the statement said.

The AMAECHIFIED GROUP further emphasized that Amaechi remains a formidable political force, adding that popularity alone cannot win presidential elections in Nigeria.

“Winning does not come by social media excitement or emotional movements.

Leadership capacity, experience, and political structure remain decisive,” the statement added.

Reiterating Amaechi’s long-standing stance on zoning, the camp said the presidency should remain in the South, urging Northern politicians to allow Southern aspirants within the coalition to resolve the contest internally.

Amaechi’s AMAECHIfied team also maintained that he remains the most viable ADC coalition aspirant capable of unseating the incumbent administration, arguing that Nigeria’s economic decline, weak institutions, and flawed electoral processes require tested leadership rather than symbolic appeal.

Describing the viral report as a calculated act of misinformation, the AMAECHIfied camp urged media organizations and the public to exercise restraint and verify claims through official channels.

Politicians and Analysts say the incident highlights growing intra-coalition tensions as aspirants position themselves ahead of the primaries, with misinformation increasingly deployed as a political tool.
